They repurpose and recycle materials, and water from the animal, agriculture, and food industries – collecting the materials and transforming them into essential ingredients that do everything from feeding animals to fertilizing crops to fueling planes and nourishing people.

The joint venture between Darling Ingredients and Valero Energy Corporation–Diamond Green Diesel (DGD), is now one of the largest manufacturers of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel in the world. Darling Ingredients says, that since 2013, DGD has been North America’s largest producer of renewable diesel from low-carbon feedstocks, providing customers with a reliable and sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Diamond Green Diesel is strategically positioned to fulfill US renewable fuel standards and address global market needs.

Renewable diesel is made from sustainable feedstock, such as used cooking oil, rendered animal fats, and inedible corn oil that is delivered to DGD via rail, trucks, or ships. Some of these are supplied by Darling Ingredients Feed segment. Renewable diesel is molecularly the same as petroleum-based diesel and it meets the ASTM International’s standard for Diesel Fuel Oils (D-975).

DGD's renewable diesel is 100% compatible with engines designed for petroleum-based diesel. This versatile, drop-in fuel can be transported directly via pipeline, rail, or ocean carrier.

According to Darling Ingredients renewable fuel produced at Diamond Green Diesel meets the most stringent low-carbon fuel standards. It is primarily sold in low-carbon markets such as California, Canada, and Europe.
